Lakeland, FL…Publix Super Markets and their customers raised more than $342,000 through their 2009 holiday season Food For All program.  The Food For All campaign appeared in all Publix Lakeland stores from November 15 through December 26, 2009.  Throughout the six week fundraiser, customers could make a $1, $3, or $5 contribution while paying for their groceries.  The coupon was scanned and the amount added to the customer’s bill.

Twelve community based non-profit organizations received funding from the 2009 holiday program including: Charity Farms, the Agape Food Bank, America’s Second Harvest of Tampa Bay, The Salvation Army of Hillsborough County, All Faiths Food Bank, Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida, Mayor’s Feed the Hungry Program, Meals on Wheels Plus, Suncoast Food Bank, The Volunteer Way, Guadalupe Center of Immokalee and the Immokalee Child Care Center.

“Thanks to our Food For All program and the generous support of our customers, Publix Lakeland Division funded twelve excellent community based non-profit agencies who are providing assistance to those most in need,” said Shannon Patten, Media and Community Relations Manager for Publix Super Markets Lakeland Division. “Since 1988, Publix Super Markets Lakeland Division has raised more than $3.4 million through our Food For All campaign and funded dozens of local charitable organizations.”
